Good communication starts with knowing your audience—and knowing when to inform, persuade, reassure, explain, or simply get out of the way.
In undergraduate admissions, that often means finding a way to stand out in a very crowded inbox. Students and families receive a lot of messages during the college search, and every email competes for a little bit of their time and attention. I’ve learned that sometimes the right approach is clear and practical—and sometimes the subject line needs to be “PUPPIES!”
But good writing also means knowing when to change the voice entirely. My work has ranged from playful marketing campaigns and student-facing emails to web and publication copy, feature stories, executive communications, and formal press releases written for news outlets.
Different audiences. Different voices. Same goal: say something worth reading.
Here are a few examples of my work.
