DUKE UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The Admit Pack

Art Direction · Brand Strategy · Process Design · Print Production · Project Management

Getting into Duke is a pretty big deal. The package that arrives afterward should feel like one, too.

When staffing changes left our team without an in-house graphic designer, we faced a challenge: we still needed to deliver a high-quality admitted-student experience, but we no longer had the same internal capacity to design, produce, assemble, and fulfill it.

Rather than simply trying to absorb the additional workload, I helped rethink the process.

Finding a more sustainable solution

We partnered with MitteraEDU, a Slate Preferred Partner, to develop a workflow that allowed us to maintain creative and brand oversight while shifting much of the production and fulfillment workload to an external partner.

Because the solution integrated with our Slate CRM, student information could move securely into the personalized print and fulfillment process. That created a seamless connection between the data behind the experience and the physical package arriving at a student’s home.

And it allowed our team to focus on what we knew best: the student experience.

What I led

Creative + Art Direction
Visual direction · Brand consistency · Content hierarchy · Design review · Production proofs

Project Management
Stakeholder coordination · Vendor management · Timelines · Deliverables · Implementation

Process + Technology
Slate CRM · Personalized print workflows · Secure data transfer · Process redesign

Production + Fulfillment
Print production · Personalized materials · Assembly · Packaging · Mailing and fulfillment

From concept to mailbox

My role included art direction and brand oversight, content coordination, stakeholder and vendor management, production timelines, proofing, and implementation.

The goal was bigger than redesigning a collection of printed pieces. We wanted the entire package to feel cohesive, celebratory, distinctly Duke, and useful—marking an enormous moment for an admitted student while helping them understand what came next.

The result wasn’t simply a new Admit Pack. We created a more sustainable production model that allowed a smaller internal team to continue delivering a highly personalized experience at scale.
